Online Games

Online games are a branch of video games that are, as the name suggests, played online, often with other people in all kinds of numbers. In some games, you can choose to play alone, in others with friends, and in some you can be playing in a very large group, mainly composed of strangers.

Often, modern games come with an online feature as well as the main game, and in some cases people do not buy the game for the main game, but the online component. Some games have become famous not for their game itself necessarily but the online version. Of course, different types of games work better than others in an online format. It is difficult to produce an online version of a game that is based on isolation, as the online component will usually put several different players together in a group as opposed to being alone. Other games work far better, even surpassing the original game. These games tend to work on the first person shooter format, which is an easy format to translate into online gaming.

Online games can be played through many different medium. The most obvious is through a computer, and there are many different types of online game that can be played by this method, more so than any other. There are small games that are often simple but addictive, and are very easy to play anywhere. There are also much bigger games, such as World of Warcraft, which not only feature a more open and complex game type but are also played by many other people at the same time.
